In a region full of rolling hills and mountain
streams, Windsor State Forest stands out for the spectacular beauty
of cascading falls at Windsor Jambs. Windsor Jambs Brook plunges
through a 25-foot-wide gorge, with 80-foot-high perpendicular granite
walls rising on either side. It is a beautiful and refreshing place
to visit.
The forest's popular day use swimming area on
the Westfield River offers a 100-foot sandy beach and picnic sites.
24 limited service campsites
(no showers or flush toilets) are also available. The numerous trails
and old roads that wind through the forest are favored by hikers,
cross-country skiers and snowmobilers. Fishermen and hunters are
also welcome.

Park Directions
Windsor State Forest is located in the northern part of the Berkshires
in western Massachusetts.
From the east: Massachusetts Turnpike (Rte I-90)
to Exit 4 (Rte. 91, Holyoke). Follow Rte. 91 North to Exit 19 and
the intersection with Rte. 9 in Northampton. Follow Route 9 West
to West Cummington: Turn right into the village of West Cummington.
Turn north on River Road, the Forest begins after 4 miles.
From the north: Follow Rte 116 to the Town of Savoy.
Half a mile east of the Town center turn south on River Road. Follow
River Road three miles to the campground entrance on the left |
