Description of Westhampton, Massachusetts

The Town of Westhampton is a small, rural community in Hampshire County, twenty miles northwest of Springfield and about 100 miles west of Boston. It is a residential town which has a two year-old elementary school with one class per grade. The regional junior senior high school is located in the center of town and is shared with four neighboring towns.

There are several dairy farms which continue to operate full-time. Maple sugar houses can be seen throughout the town, and many residents engage in maple sugaring in the winter.

The center offers a picturesque setting with a library, town hall, church and the town common. The Westhampton Blacksmith Shop Museum is nearby. It houses a vast collection of memorabilia donated by residents and continues to preserve the history of the town.
