Description of Templeton, Massachusetts

Templeton is a rural community with significant historic architecture. The town has four villages; Templeton, East Templeton, Baldwinville and Otter River. The town has some industry, including paper and printing. The major part of the labor force commutes to Gardner and points east on Route 2.

Templeton is part of the Narragansett Regional School District. A very broad recreation base in enjoyed by the community with the Otter River State Forest continuing over the town border into neighboring Winchendon. The Fernald School for mentally challenged adults is situated in the town.

It is located in north central Massachusetts, bordered by Royalston and Winchendon on the north, Gardner on the east, Hubbardston on the southeast, and Phillipston on the west. Templeton is 5 miles west of Gardner, 15 miles west of Fitchburg, 62 miles northwest of Boston, and 212 miles from New York City.
